Supplemental Instruction Labs
Supplemental Instruction, a peer tutorial program, is available in courses which are historically difficult for students, such as chemistry, anatomy & physiology, history, and math. Student Instruction Leaders are students who have previously excelled in the course and then sit through the course again, take notes, and do homework in preparation for the SI sessions. Leaders facilitate two sessions per week and students who are enrolled in the Supplemental Instruction course may attend as many sessions as they wish. Ask your advisor for more information concerning this free service.
Math Tutoring Lab
The Math Tutoring Lab is available to provide assistance to students enrolled in many of the math courses offered at Isothermal. The schedule and courses vary, so please check with your instructor to find out when help is available for your math course.
The Writing Lab
The Writing Center is a support service for Isothermal Community College students. The center offers help with all types of writing, research, paper formatting, study skills, reading comprehension, public speaking, and test proctoring. It is not limited to students in English classes; it is for all students in all classes who may need help with language arts. The center is walk-in (no appointment is necessary), but students do need to sign in as they arrive and sign out when they leave. Computers are available for students who are utilizing the center for additional help; however, this lab is not an open computer lab. The Writing Center is located in the Administration Building, 210. If you have questions about the Writing Center, you may call (828) 395-1740.
